Fast-Pitch Sessions for this year's Location 2.0 Summit are now closed. We appreciate the many individuals and companies that submitted applications, and assure them our judges will carefully examine each one. As noted earlier in our guidelines below, finalists will be announced by the end of today, August 20, 2008. The guidelines listed on this page will also be kept as a reference for those presenting and for interested parties attending the Summit.

Fast-Pitch Guidelines

Fast-Pitch Sessions will be introduced at this year’s Location 2.0 Summit and will feature the most innovative new LBS products and technologies in beta or on the market today. The Fast-Pitches were created to offer developers a unique opportunity to showcase their applications and services and to spark compelling discussions among an exclusive audience of leading global location industry executives.

Finalists and Winners

The Fast-Pitches represent an opportunity to promote location excellence. Finalists for the Fast-Pitch Sessions will be announced on August 20, 2008. The elite audience at the Location 2.0 Summit will vote for their favorite Fast-Pitch and the winners will be honored at the evening Location 2.0 Summit Awards with a People’s Choice Award.    

Judging Criteria

The judges will be looking for the most cutting-edge location technologies and novel LBS products that positively enhance the consumers’ daily lives. Entries will be judged and evaluated on how well they achieve this goal and the following criteria:

  • Level of innovation- Is the product/technology new and innovative?
  • Features & benefits to the end-user – How will the product enhance the user’s experience or daily lives?
  • Impact on the market — How will the product help drive the uptake of location services by consumers?

Judges:

Kanwar Chadha, founder of SiRF Technology, responsible for the vision of the company and   Andrew Seybold, one of the most respected and influential champions of mobile wireless innovation.

Entry Rules

  • Closing deadline for all nomination entries is 11:59 pm PDT Monday, August 18, 2008.
  • Entries received after the closing date will not be accepted under any circumstances.
  • Multiple nomination entries: The same product or technology can be nominated in more than one category (if relevant). There is no maximum number of nominations entries.
  • All nominations entries must complete the Online Entry Form.
  • SiRF Technology reserves the right to disqualify a company from the competition at any time.
  • Finalists will be notified by August 20, 2008, and will receive two invitations to the Location 2.0 Summit on September 10, 2008. Finalists will be responsible for expenses incurred for travel and accommodations.
  • Upon selection, a finalist will be given detailed preparation instructions for their three-minute Fast-Pitch at the Location 2.0 Summit on September 10, 2008.
  • The Winners in each category will be selected based on the total votes from the audience of the Location 2.0 Summit and be announced at the evening Awards Program on September 10, 2008.
  • Reviews of submissions from finalists and winners will be published in connection with Location 2.0 Summit Awards. Entrants may mark certain confidential or sensitive information in their online entries as “not for publication.”
  • Finalists and Winners agree to have their company name, product or technology name and description along with their company URL and logo listed on the Location 2.0 Summit website.
  • All decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
